  • Nov. 19th, 2009 at 7:22 AM

David and the Anthemic celebrated the one year anniversary of DCTR by playing it start to finish in Hammond, IN last night. Highlights included a couple acoustic stripped-down versions and Permanent!

Permanent:

Life on the Moon (acoustic):

Congrats on your amazing success, guys! Here's looking forward to another year even more amazing than the last!

Another new song -- Make Believe

  • Nov. 11th, 2009 at 8:03 AM

David and the Anthemic introduced a new song last night in St. Louis, Make Believe.  It rocks!!

And according to @thedavidcook, more surprises still to come! Hope it's an ep or deluxe cd with bonus tracks!

New song from David!

  • Oct. 28th, 2009 at 10:59 AM

David & the Anthemic recently recorded One Second To Change Your Life (one of the songs that didn't make DCTR) and ESPN is using it for the baseball postseason. Now I want a mp3 without all that talking! Awesome vocals, awesome song, Dave!

The evil [info]jehane18 lured me into playing this game with her and to TORMENT me, she gave me: David Cook, Michael Johns, Andy Skib and Jared Padalecki. Cruel woman!

So...... here goes.

For giving the a capella portion of Lie the silence it deserves.  It made the hair on the back of my neck stand up, I'm telling ya!  It was an amazing show (my 4th with David and The Anthemic) and the best yet.

Here is Lie:

Acoustic Dave

David and the Anthemic have done several acoustic numbers in the past couple shows (probably because of Kyle's absence).

Hot off the presses in York PA:  David, Andy & Monty joined Phil Marshall onstage for a song AND DAVID PLAYED DRUMS!!! respectably!  Whooooo!!

Make Me from House of Blues Cleveland

  • Sep. 18th, 2009 at 9:13 AM

David surprised his audience (and Andy, from the crowd's recap) by having Andy sing the first verse of Make Me last night at the Cleveland HOB concert.  Andy sounded great and they harmonized through the rest of the song.  Way to be a generous lead singer, Dave!

I'm just hoping they'll do it again tonight, since I WILL BE THERE AT THE YORK CONCERT!!!!  Can't wait to see David & the Anthemic again!

David had a bunch of old friends at last night's concert: Carly Smithson, Brooke White, Jason Castro, Syesha Mercado, Ramiele Malubay, and supposedly, Michael Johns (though I haven't seen any pics with him yet. And Ryan Star, who performed a short acoustic set before the regular openers, Crash Kings, began.

Here is a vid of Dave singing Breathe with Ryan Star:

Well, there must have been some kinda security at this concert; there are barely any videos.

Souvenir, redux

  • Sep. 2nd, 2009 at 11:01 AM

The sound mix has been highlighting the backing vocals on Souvenir the past few days and all I can say is DAYUM, Andy & Kyle are the bomb! I especially love seeing Andy & David singing lines back and forth at the end (approx 4:10). Freaking fantastic!

Corn Palace Festival, Mitchell, SD

  • Aug. 31st, 2009 at 7:20 AM

David and The Anthemic guys were full of stuff and nonsense after their Corn Palace Festival show, but I gotta say:

GROUP SHOWER, UR DOIN IT WRONG
Kyle was just starting to get it right when the video ended, boo!!

Seriously, he was in amazing voice, one of the best concerts so far, I'd say, vocally.

Where, incidentally, no knitting is done. Curiouser and curiouser. But rocking? Definitely happened with Dave & The Anthemic came to town.

Hot For Teacher (it's back!):

The Showbox SoDo, Seattle, WA 8-24-09

  • Aug. 26th, 2009 at 6:10 PM

David enjoyed his day in Seattle by throwing out the first pitch in the Seattle Mariner's game and still made it to his concert on time. There were crews videotaping the show, so hopefully a David Cook & The Anthemic DVD will be in the offing eventually!

Twitter has made my life worth living!

God, these boys are so much fun!  I love hearing Neal speak, he's usually so quiet.  And speaking of Neal, he's joining the other ANTHEMIC boys on Twitter  twitter.com/nealfingtiemann.  So far, they are totally rocking my world with their hilarious tweets.

And speaking of The Anthemic, here is a vid of David announcing the band name in Seattle:

David and the boys look to be enjoying California, rocking out at the California State Fair for show #103.
